Sleep apnea appliances

Better sleep can start at the dentist.
Obstructive sleep apnea happens when the airway repeatedly collapses during sleep, interrupting breathing dozens of times a night. It leaves you exhausted, and over time it's linked to high blood pressure, heart problems, and more. CPAP machines are the standard treatment, but many people can't tolerate them.
An oral sleep apnea appliance is a custom-made device, similar in feel to a retainer, that gently repositions the lower jaw during sleep to keep the airway open. For mild to moderate sleep apnea, and for people who can't tolerate CPAP, it's an effective, comfortable, travel-friendly alternative.
Why Perry Dental
Treating sleep apnea well takes teamwork between your dentist and your doctor, and follow-up to make sure the appliance is actually working, not just sitting in a drawer. Dr. Jack handles that follow-through personally. Better sleep changes everything, and it's worth doing right.
How it works
- A proper diagnosis first
Sleep apnea is a medical condition. If you haven't had a sleep study, Dr. Jack will help coordinate one with your physician. - A custom fitting
Your appliance is custom-fitted from a digital scan of your mouth. - Adjusted until it's right
We adjust it over a few visits until your airway, your comfort, and your bite are all where they should be.
Have more questions?
A night guard protects teeth from grinding. A sleep apnea appliance repositions the jaw to keep your airway open. They look similar but do very different jobs.
Oral appliances for diagnosed sleep apnea are often covered by medical insurance rather than dental. We will help you sort out the paperwork.
For mild to moderate apnea, oral appliances can be very effective, and the best treatment is the one you will actually use every night.
A quick scan and chat is all it takes to see if aligners are right for you.
